One of the hottest trends we are seeing in garden design is the use of living walls. Also referred to as green walls, live walls or even vertical gardens, this trend is a great solution for both indoor and outdoor applications where you need to add a little green and space is at a premium. Many times greenery and vegetation are desirable in narrow spaces or to screen walls and fences where regular planting and landscaping cannot fit. Zero lot line homes, patio homes or narrow side yards, like we often see in the Park Cities, are all situations where living walls are a great solution. These living walls are typically comprised of modular systems with cells or pockets that allow plants to be planted vertically over one another. Irrigation is often simplified with these systems in that the water can be run to the top of the living wall planter in narrow tubing and then any additional water an drainage can trickle down to the plants below.

There are many different types of living wall systems to choose from for your garden from the simple, DIY (do it yourself) and inexpensive to the complex and costly.
